Revisiting the Flood of 2007
I was riding back from Portland and it was a beautiful day. I thought I’d take a detour and see how things had changed along the Chehalis River since I had last been there in December. I expected the greenery of spring to abound, but I was shocked to see homes “missing” from where I had last seen them. The previous visit starts here, in case you missed it.

Portland, OR to Seattle, WA via the coast
South side of Hwy 6, site of a major slide last December
North side of the road, to what’s left of the hillside. Hillslide?
(Before) Westward view
(Now) East from the same point
(Before) Clearing out a house for the owners
(Now) State condemned the house anyway, so the owners burned it down
(Before) Mud-caked field
(Now) Grasses are slowly pushing through the mud
(Before) House cleared of damaged goods
(Now) House is gone
(Before) A mud-filled front yard
(Now) It looks like the owner gets to build
(Before) A condemned house
(Now) Not much has changed
(Before) A house swept off it’s foundation
(Now) The foundation is still there
(Before) Hauling out the church debris
(Now) Looks like new siding is in the works
